Course Equipment and Program Requirements

Programs

While there will be many different courses available here for training Natural Trade University does not provide the programs themselves. Many of these courses will not require any specific program access like Architecture Plan reading, Structural Plan reading, any trade specific training on systems like Chillers and Chilled water or other planned trainings of this type. As all of these courses are intended for Union Trade Members there is a video available at the start of each course walking learners through how to get some of the programs for free through an agreement the Union has set up for it's members. This set up is for all Autodesk products, like Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD as well as many others. Not all programs NTU will provide training on are available in this way and users may need to use company supplied tools or download free versions of the programs for the training if that is available. This would be for products like Bluebeam Revu, Smartsheets, and others. All training videos can still be taken even if the user is unable to access the programs but it is highly recommended for the benefit of truly learning to access the programs and learn along with our videos.

Equipment

All training provided by NTU can be viewed from multiple devices such as Laptops, Desktops, and even iPads and smartphones. Some users have also set up on smart TVs. Anything that can access a web browser and stream video can typically play al course videos with ease. There are some restrictions however on the equipment that can actually access and use the programs we train on. This is especially true with heavy software like Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD. If you plan to take these courses it is highly recommended to have a computer that can handle the programs themselves. I have listed the requirements that Autodesk recommends for these programs below. If you intend to purchase equipment for these programs then you also want to make sure at minimum they meet these requirements though I recommend exceeding them due to how quickly technology expands in todays world. There are great sites for this if you need to purchase or upgrade like ThinkEDU.com which offers Union members discounts on many things as long as you go to the Union benefits page. There are other trusted sources like LENOVO.com. Please note that while the training courses may work on MAC systems many of the programs like Revit and Navisworks do not.

Autodesk Recommended Computer Specs

Operating System: 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11. Processor: Intel i-Series, Xeon, AMD Ryzen, Ryzen Threadripper PRO, 2.5 GHz or higher. Memory: 16 GB minimum. Display: 1280 x 1024 resolution with True Color. Video Adapter: DirectX 11 capable graphics card with Shader Model 5 and a minimum of 4 GB of video memory. Disk Space: 30 GB free disk space. Pointing Device: MS-Mouse or 3Dconnexion compliant device. .NET Framework: Version 4.8 or later.
